PHI Air Medical Training
Great training that challenged our thinking about performance planning and introduced a lot of practical and useful information. Flight training in particular was excellent. Would highly recommend this course to anybody flying in mountains. Overall, great invaluable insight and techniques that can be applied to mountain flying but really all helicopter operations!

Tuckamore Aviation hired Gary Brennan and his company, Specialized Helicopter Training LLC after they came highly recommended from many OAS personnel. Gary was organized and used his experience to efficiently bring us up to and beyond OAS standards in our AS350. Gary’s relaxed demeanor on the ground and in the air created a comfortable training atmosphere here at our base of operations. The customized training syllabus covering longline/vertical reference (separate skills as we learned), mountain flying & aerial fire fighting took our individual skills far beyond those required. We’re an east coast company but as soon as we have the chance to gain additional training, Gary will be the first person we call.

Jeff

I have personally known Gary since we worked together at Hawkins and Powers Aviation in the mid 90s. Gary has always been very professional and his insight on how to do jobs safely and more efficiently has been impressed on myself and our pilots for many years. Gary has worked with me and our pilots over the years on ACETA training, longline skills, deep snow operations, mountain flying, firefighting skills and much more. We always come away with more knowledge after each of his visits and Gary always goes above and beyond to share with you the lessons he has learned over the years. He also will always share with you his knowledge of accidents that have happened in the industry and how you can avoid similar situations as well. Gary will get your new pilots ready for any Government check rides and he always has tips on things your seasoned pilots can improve on. If you are looking for specialized training from one of the most knowledgeable and skilled pilots in the industry then you will not be disappointed if you hire Gary for any of your helicopter needs.

"Alot of instructors can teach you how to pass a longline checkride. Gary Brennan not only has the knowledge and real-world experience to get you there, but he is a great teacher and can make you a better pilot. I would highly recommend any of Gary's classes. You won't be disappointed!"

"Whether you're getting ready for your first OAS check ride or simply need to brush up on a skill set that's gotten a bit rusty, the courses offered by Gary Brennan are certain to suit your needs. Some of us are good pilots, some of us are good teachers. Gary is a unique combination of both. Over the years I've taken his long line/external load, ACETA, deep snow and mountain courses. After doing so, my skill set was sharpened and I was better prepared, and felt more confident for my OAS check ride. The confidence comes not only from the training, but also the fact that Gary, who was formerly an OAS inspector pilot, knows exactly what they look for when examining applicants. Further, Gary has thousands of hours on numerous airframes. If your check ride is in a Bell, an MD or a Eurocopter, Gary has flown it, knows tricks and hints unique to each airframe, and will make sure he passes that info on to you.
In my view, instruction is an equal combination of knowledge coupled with the ability to pass that knowledge on in a way that makes the trainee comfortable. We've all had instructors who know what they are doing, but lack the ability to teach in a manner that doesn't leave you feeling intimidated, stupid or uncomfortable. This is not Gary. He understands a simple, basic concept of instruction - that the trainee lacks skill and needs training or improvement. He identifies your strong points and lets you know where you did well. He'll then tell you where things need improvement, you'll do a go around, and try again - with instruction and encouragement as opposed to comments that make you feel like you should look for a job in the fast food industry!
I highly recommend Gary's courses. I'm a better pilot for taking them and I'm sure many others are as well."

Doing is one thing, teaching is another. Gary fits both of these categories. Gary’s teaching techniques can train someone with no prior vertical reference experience. He also has the ability to radically correct someone whose current performance is sub-par, as in my case as an experienced pilot. He identified flaws in my initial long line training that were hurting my performance and in a couple hours of ground and flight training corrected my mistakes. After Gary’s training, I returned to work with a confidence to perform vertical reference operations that I did not have before.
.
If you want good vertical reference long line training, be careful where you go. If you want the BEST, get with Gary. He has an ability to teach this stuff like very few others can. He has seen bad habits, poor quality initial training or inconsistent, low quality performance, as in my case, and can give you back your confidence. That’s what he did for me!
